The NRSWA Re-assessment course, accredited by CABWI, ensures operatives and supervisors can maintain their qualifications to continue working on the roads. Designed for individuals whose current certifications are due to expire or have recently lapsed, this course offers full or single unit reassessments. With flexible delivery options, training can take place in-house, at your workplace, or at ABS offices, and successful completion provides a renewed qualification valid for a further five years.

The subject
The NRSWA Re-assessment course provides certification for operatives and supervisors, enabling them to maintain compliance and continue working legally on highways. It includes:
Full reassessment or single unit options tailored to specific roles and experience.
Flexible delivery: either a test-only format (1–2 days) or classroom refresher with testing (2–3 days).
Timed online exams for each street works unit, with 20 multiple-choice questions per unit.
Refresher training support available for those needing additional preparation.

The Aim
The aim of this course is to provide operatives and supervisors with a streamlined and flexible way to maintain their NRSWA qualifications, ensuring ongoing compliance with street works regulations.
The objective
By the end of this course, participants will:
Successfully complete the required digital tests for their selected units.
Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of street works practices and requirements.
Achieve a renewed CABWI-accredited certificate and updated NRSWA card valid for a further five years.
Ensure their qualifications are registered on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR).
Be fully equipped to continue performing street works activities safely and effectively.

Course Content
Key highlights include:
Accrediting Body: CABWI (Certification and Awards Board for the Water Industry).
Testing Requirements: Exams require an 80% pass mark (16/20) and are taken digitally on tablets provided by ABS.
Eligibility: Available to individuals whose NRSWA accreditation has expired or is about to expire. Even those without recent practical experience can undertake reassessment.

LA (01): Location & avoidance of underground apparatus
O1 (02): Signing, lighting and guarding
O2 (03): Excavation in the highway
O3 (04): Reinstatement & compaction of backfill materials
O4 (05): Reinstatement of sub-base & road in non-bituminous materials
O5 (06): Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials
O6 (07): Reinstatement of hot lay bituminous materials (subject to centre)
O7 (08): Reinstatement of concrete slabs (subject to centre)
O8 (09): Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footway
For Trained Supervisors:
LA (01): Location & avoidance of underground apparatus
S1 (10): Monitoring, signing, lighting and guarding
S2 (11): Monitoring excavation in the highway
S3 (12): Monitoring reinstatement & compaction of backfill layer
S4 (13): Monitoring reinstatement of sub and road base in non-bituminous material
S5 (14): Monitoring reinstatement of bituminous materials
S6 (15): Monitoring reinstatement of concrete slabs (subject to centre)
S7 (16): Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways
After successful completion, participants will receive a CABWI-accredited certificate and an updated NRSWA ID card, registered on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR).
